Life Lately

"summer is when laziness finds respectability"
This post is essentially just a catch up and end to my month (upon month) long bloggers block. Although this summer never really seemed to happen, there was minimal sun and minimal plans - contradicting my expectations of the "best summer of my life" that I thought was supposed to finishing school (?!) I have lacked any inspiration for post's following a stressful time of GCSE exams I was simply far too focused on revision and panicking for results day to fit in blogging. However, having received my results, which were a pretty little mixture composed of A's and A*'s, I am feeling very content with life and can't wait to go back to writing so WATCH THIS SPACE.

Topshop Unique AW15

"AW15 was all chunky cable knits, thigh-split tweed kilts and dainty thistle prints"
At 2:30 this afternoon, Topshop Unique took to the Tate Britain to unveil their new autumn-winter collection, as part of their London Fashion Week display. The front row was star-studded with models Kendall Jenner and Cara Delevigne sat alongside fashion journalist, Alexa Chung. The collection featured a lot of fur and feather trim, teamed with chunky knits and tan leather, the autumnal colour scheme providing connotations of the countryside; with a lot of the audience describing  the collection as having "country bumpkin" feel.
The AW collection has a focus on texture, Topshop paring rough leather with fur creating a juxtaposition; like the contrast between delicate floral prints and the daring gingham fabrics.
What do you think of the AW collection?

"New Year New Me"

First off, hello again. I haven't blogged since summer, I don't have a great reason for this; in fact I don't really have a reason at all. The time seems to have slipped by and as I sit here now in January 2015 I can't believe it's been 9 months (!!!) since I last wrote a blog post. I'm a firm believer that you shouldn't have to force things, if it isn't coming naturally you should take step back and wait until inspiration arises. So here I am.
Now before you panic that I've bought into that awful "new year new me" cliche, rest assure I know that the change from a 2014 to a 2015 won't magically transform my personality. However, even now  three weeks into January, this is a sentence that is still circling social media sites. New year shouldn't be about people "getting left in 2014" if they haven't texted you in a while or becoming heartless because your heart was broken last year. A new year is a new beginning, not a new you. It's a chance to reflect on the tears and laughter of 2014, learning from your mistakes (I know I made a bloody lot) to make sure that this one is the best it can possibly be. If you want to drop a dress size or cut someone off, make sure it's because it's what you want, not because it's the social convention of "new year new me". It's sad to see people already hating the year because their diet isn't going to plan or they've answered that boy they swore to ignore; treat 2015 as a chance to be a better you, not a newyou. I began last year with an empty jar and a stack of post it notes, as the year progressed I wrote down every good thing that happened and placed it into the jar. I didn't once peek at the notes until New Years day and it made me tear up to look back on all of the amazing memories. It's such a good way to look back on life, focusing on the positive rather than the negative.
2015 is your year beautiful

What's In My Bag // Summer Edition

So seeing as it is now summer, or  as far as summer goes in England; I have downsized to a smaller suitable satchel and so I thought what better to do than a whats in my bag?
In the summer I find myself carrying a lot less and so I can get away with smaller bags, when I say this in the window of my local charity store I thought it was too good to be true, but as I edged nearer, eager to see if my eyes were deceiving me I almost drooled at the sight of this (brand new and labelled might I add) pastel pink satchel. I'm the sort of person to live in blacks and grey's so I find bags are a fun way of branching out of my "I'll stop wearing black when they make a darker colour attitude" and into the summer season with a pop of colour.

An obvious essential for me is sunglasses.
I suffer from hay fever and have strangely over light sensitive eyes and so without my trusty glasses I would be squinting 24/7 - not a good look. I like to go relativity bold with shades and I love the more retro feeling ones, currently in my bag are these big, slighty Audrey Hepburn glasses from Primark believe it or not. I love Primark for sunglasses, they're so cheap you can throw them in your bag without caring too much about scratches.

Something I never go anywhere without is my ipod and so my bag acts as it's home-away-from-home. Permanently plugged in are my headphones that are an absolute essential for sunbathing, I find that music and sun make a perfect combination. It's always nice to have a soundtrack to your summer.

Perfume or some kind of body spray is a must have for your summer bag. You're going to be getting hot and sweaty and it's great to have a freshen up and top up your perfume through out the day. Currently i've been carrying the Victorias Secret -Vanilla lace body spray this is my favourite of all the VS scents, It's sweet smell reminds me of ice cream and so in the summer I wear it religiously; VS sprays are also super long wearing so for a spray that will keep you smelling delicious all day i totally recommend one from their range.
Personally I spend 99.9% of my life on tube trains and travelling all across London and so my oyster card is my holy grail of all the items in my bag. It's like my life line, I would be so lost (and poor) without it.

Hand gel ties nicely to my travel tendencies. I can't stand crowded tube trains with hot hand rails and that feeling when you finally get a seat but have forgotten your hand gel. Mine's from bath and bodyworks and is actually a Christmas scent that my friend brought me back from the USA.

The final contents of my summer bag is my tophop lipstick in the shade "beguiled". This lipstick has been featured on my blog numerous times and it has became a part of me i've worn it so much; I feel like a part of me has been lost if I don't apply this in the mornings. A form of lipstick is an essential for those hot summer days when all other face contents has melted away and you are left with black eyes and a shiny nose; whacking on your sunnies and distracting from the disaster with a bold lip is a tactile way of looking a lot more presentable than you feel.

Beach Break

Last weekend I went away to the sea side town of Bognor Regis with my dad, his friends and their children. I love the beach and it's not until I visit one that i realize the extent of that love. The sea is such a strange and beautiful thing, it's crazy how it's something so strange yet we've made it so ordinary. Anyway, it all looked very pretty when pictured so I thought i'd share it with ya'll.

Spring Snapshots

One of, or perhaps even my favourite, things to photograph are flowers. I'm not a huge nature person but I really appreciate it, I think everyone should take the time to study their surroundings; when you're having a bad day I find it nice to refresh myself with what we really have. Anyway, here's a few of my many floral photographs, since it's almost summer I think my blog needs some blossom to brighten it up.
